What would you do when your favourite song can’t cheer you up anymore? When your favourite place no longer brings you joy? When the people that made you laugh, become the reason for endless tears? Where do you go from there? Who do you turn to? How can you find happiness again? Is it even possible to be happy, when everything you have loved has been ripped away from you?
Well, the Bible assures us that God will never leave us nor forsake us. Even when everyone walks away from our lives, God will still be there. That is a promise, my friend. And unlike other people, God never breaks his promises (Psalm 89:34). You can always count on Him.
Along with His presence, Jesus also promises peace and joy to those who believe in Him. God has asked us to cast our burdens on Him for He will take care of us (1 Peter 5:7). There is no reason for you to worry, when the God of the universe is your Father. He will provide all your needs.
When you are overwhelmed with the struggles of life, you can put your hope in this: the sufferings of the present time are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed to us (Romans 8:18). In the life to come, there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4). There will be an end to all the sufferings of this world, and an eternity full of joy and glory for believers.
Therefore rejoice, because in Jesus: your salvation is secured, your place in heaven is secured, God’s forgiveness is secured. There is now nothing that can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:39).
So, dear friend, even when all seems lost, God is not. He is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Turn to Him and ask for His help - He will not cast away those who come to Him (John 6:37). Remember, if you have Jesus, you have everything.
